1. Stories of Place

How can our projects bring their ‘story of place’ to life?

In each place we work, there will be ingrained natural, geological, and human history and culture that have been interwoven to create its unique nature. How can we develop a deeper understanding of these attributes so we can confirm if they are aligned with and can support the proposed project? How can we then shine a light on, nurture and enliven these stories and potential?

To achieve this, let us consider how we can:

1.1   … centre Country in design?

Seek knowledge about the Traditional Custodians and their understanding of the area to develop and integrate a holistic and interconnected design approach to the environment, community, and culture.

1.1   … enhance its context, connections and culture?

Enhance the ecology, geology and geography as locally appropriate buildings and infrastructure enable communities to live, connect and form meaningful relationships, reflecting and strengthening culture.

1.2   … positively contribute to its watershed?

Support the overall ecological balance of the watershed as it preserves and improves water quality, and manages stormwater effectively.
