The sudden and unexpected death of someone you love is shattering. It brutally shows how precarious life is and how nothing can be taken for granted. The devastation can be overwhelming.
Dominique Hes often asks - who are you in the forest? For me, I am still working out who I am. I believe Jeff Robinson was one of the tallest and strongest trees in the forest. His roots were deep, secure and enriching of others. His trunk reached high, pushing into the light and achieving as much as possible. His canopy was extensive and gave shelter and sustenance to many. His sudden loss leaves a huge hole in the forest, one that I know many are in shock about and will take a long time to recover from.
Jeremey Lent in his book “The Web of Meaning” talks about the ripples we cause in every word we speak, action we take or don’t take and the way we live every day. He notes that even when we are no longer here, the effect of those ripples continue, bringing the impact of our existence into the future. We are never really gone.
Jeff Robinson’s ripples were profound and prolific, impacting so many people all around the world in so many positive ways. His presence is going to be more than missed, but it will not be absent. I am in awe at what he achieved in his lifetime and the richness he bought to so many lives. I look forward to connecting with his wide reaching friends and colleagues as we live up to honouring his legacy in all that we do, and ensuring that our ripples amplify his.
Vale Jeff - I feel so privileged to have known you, been in your orbit and benefitted from your ripples.
