Caroline Pidcock

Caroline Pidcock is passionate about the importance of architecture and integrated design, and how they can contribute to a “culturally rich, socially just and ecologically restorative” future. Her practice – PIDCOCK - Architecture + Sustainability – is inspired by the possibilities of creating desirable places that demonstrate how the many issues that are fundamental to sustainability can be potent and profound influences. Her genuine interest and experience in sustainable built environments has been developed and enhanced through her involvement in a diverse range of professional, academic and community commitments.

In addition to being a director of PIDCOCK, other current roles include being a member of the Living Futures Institute Australia (LFIA) and Sacred Heart Education Ministry Boards; member of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) Design Review Panel, CRCLCL Node of Excellence Steering Committee, UTS Institute of Sustainable Futures Cohousing for Seniors Advisory Group, and ambassador for both the Al Gore Climate Change and 1 Million Women projects.

Her previous roles as Chair of the Carriageworks and LFIA Boards; President of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council; President of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects in NSW and National Councillor; Industry Representative on the Australian Building Codes Board; Member of the South Australian Forest Industry Advisory Board, NSW Architects Registration Board, Greening Australia NSW, and Bicycle NSW Board; and adjunct professor/lecturer at a range of universities in NSW, exposed her to many government, business, academic and community arenas.

In 2014, Caroline was recognised by the International Living Future Institute as a Living Building Hero and in 2011 was awarded the Marian Mahony Griffin Award in recognition of her contribution to architecture in NSW. In 2009, Caroline was awarded a Byera Hadley Scholarship to study “The Architecture of (Net) Zero Emissions Housing”.

When she is not working hard, Caroline enjoys swimming, cycling, walking and shopping at the local farmers market to keep fit, sane and in touch with the wonderful city she lives in!
