The Downside of Downlights

We are often asked by clients why we do not promote the use of recessed downlighters in new domestic design.

The answer to this is twofold:

-       Downlights provide a passage for increased amounts of humid air to enter the roof space which can result in condensation damage.

-       Downlights , due to the reduced amount of insulation allowed in their proximity, provide thermal weak points in a ceiling and a passage for heat to leave the room.
